Nellin Shoppi

TGIF!  It's the end of the work week, woohoo!  Ending the work week with a great feature: NellinShoppi.  Nelli was even so kind to send over a coupon code for all blog readers!  If you use coupon code NEWBUYERS1 you will get a 15% discount on anything.  This shop makes cute little polymer clay animals.  My favorite from this shop would have to be the Panda Earrings.  They're adorable.

Q: How did you come up with your shop name?
A: My shop name is a combination of my name Nelli and word shop. NellinShoppi in Finnish means Nelli's shop. I wanted to pick a name that can have any kinds of items under it so that I can have lots of variety in my shop!

Q: Do you only sell on Etsy?
A: I sell on Etsy, Facebook, and some items on a Finnish website called Madeby.  I also put up some items in The Craftstar, but haven't really done anything there since opening. My biggest selling venue is Facebook, because the Finnish customers don't use Etsy or Paypal. I enjoy Etsy the most because of the community, so I prefer selling here.

Q: What inspires you?
A: I get inspired by nature, colors, and patterns. I really want to recycle as much as possible too.  My latest project was to make a lot of envelopes and pillow boxes that I can use for packaging. Animals are close to my heart and that's why I make my cute earrings. I have a rescue dog named Kaveri and he is a source of inspiration!

Q: What is the hardest part of what you do?
A: I'm the kind of person who gets really excited about things, so sometimes it's hard to stop making something. I'm between jobs at the moment so I work around the clock with Nellin Shoppi (not because I have to, but because it is a lot of fun!). Yesterday I went to bed after 2 am! Whoops!

Q: What is one of your favorite items from your shop?
A: I have many favorites in my shop because I make so many things. But I really like my cute animal earrings and there is one especially cute pair I love. Penguins are my all time favorites.

Q: What made you decide to use Etsy instead of sites like ArtFire and MadeItMySelf?
A: I only heard about Etsy.  I have never heard about ArtFire and MadeItMySelf. My friend told me that Etsy is great for selling handmade items, so I decided to give it a go and I haven't regretted it.

Q: Is Etsy your only "job", or is it something you do on the side?
A: At the moment, I am between jobs so I have plenty of time to hurl things up in Etsy. I plan on finding at least a part time job on the side. My dream is to be able to do my own things and not work, as most of the sellers hope.

Q: Are you attending any art shows in the future?
A: I am not planning to attend any art shows, but I am looking for some shops that would be interested in having my items for sale and I plan to attend some craft fairs here in Helsinki.

Q: Any future projects?
A: I always have a project or two going on. At the moment, I plan on making more necklaces for my new exquisite collection and making new designs for my animal bookmarks. I'm thinking of making a dachshund design!
